BIO

Michael J. Evans

Mike is a Chartered Fellow and Graduate of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

He was Manager of the Employment Disability Unit of Dundee City Council in Dundee, Scotland from 1991 to 2011 and was President of the European Union of Supported Employment (EUSE) from 2007 until 2011. He was Chairman and a founding member of the Scottish Union of Supported Employment. He is a co-author of the EUSE Quality Standards Guide which has played an influential role in the delivery of Supported Employment by many projects throughout Europe. He was also the Co-ordinator of the EUSE Leonardo Partnership which produced the European Supported Employment Toolkit/Verktøykasse which he co-authored and edited. This Toolkit has now been translated into many European languages and is widely used throughout Europe, Australia and South America.

He is the author of Employing People with Disabilities, which was published as a best practice guide by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and he has delivered presentations, workshops and training courses throughout the United Kingdom, Europe and America. Mike is the co-author of Impressions of Supported Employment which explored the real and practical issues facing Supported Employment providers in Europe from a mainly Norwegian perspective. He is also the co-author of an EU commissioned Study of Supported Employment in Europe which analysed the Supported Employment activities of 30 European countries.

From 2013 to 2017, he was responsible for planning, organising and delivering employment services in Guernsey. He was instrumental in setting up the Guernsey Employment Trust and was the Chief Executive from January 2015 to December 2017. He authored a Good Practice Guide for Guernsey Employers and created and implemented the Employers’ Disability Charter for Guernsey. The activities and services of Guernsey Employment Trust saw a 200% improvement in the job outcome rates for disabled people and during his term as Chief Executive a total of 192 disabled people gained paid employment.

He has delivered training and consultancy throughout Norway to Leaders, Managers and Job Coaches and has also delivered a range of Supported Employment related courses through the NHO Arbeid og Inkludering and through NAV. Evaluations and feedback received independently has resulted in scores over 5 out of 6 in all areas of delivery, content, knowledge and relevance.

As an experienced Leader and Practitioner, He is keen to help you develop both employment services and staff to ensure that your organisation delivers positive job results in an efficient and effective manner. He would intend to do this through delivering a range of training courses and management consultancy in all areas of Supported Employment.
